Reviews from live performances

"The Foxglove Trio took everyone aback with their originality and warm, friendly audacity... They plunged into a spellbinding programme... I could listen to the Foxgloves' striking and alluring presentation time and time again."
Mick Tems, FolkWales Online Magazine

"Featuring lovely harmonies, Ffion Mair's effortless soaring solos, Cathy Mason's vibrant cello and Patrick Dean's mellow melodeon, this young band of multiinstrumentalists is destined for great things before too long."
Peter Wooldridge (former editor of The Shropshire Review) following the Llanwddyn Day of Folk and Acousitc Music

"A refreshingly modest and friendly trio of young people that gave the audience a mesmorising hour and a half of traditionally presented music. It was a joy to experience their first class high quality presentation."
Mike Peach, Anchor Folk Club Byfleet

"The singing was spot on, their harmonies tight-knit and clear and their playing just right. All that and they were a lovely bunch too! The overall result was a good evening of music, a bit of foot tapping and going home with that warm feeling."
Steve, Bracknell Folk Club

"We had a great evening - beautiful crystal clear vocals and sublime instrumental accompaniment. We’ve already had requests from our audience for a return visit in the future."
Roger Hanslip, Folk at the Prospect, Runcorn

"An interesting and entertaining evening from three fine musicians and superb singing from Ffion, all performing with a true commitment to the music."
Ann & Eddie Green The Willows Folk Club, Kirkham.

"The Foxglove Trio bring original and refreshing arrangements to traditional and some modern material,"

Paul Seligman, Llantrisant Folk Club

"The Foxglove Trio were fantastic - a beautiful blend of fabulous vocals, guitar, cello, melodeon, concertina and bodhran, their music was gorgeous and they were witty and charming as a group."
Helen Chinn, Watford Folk Club

"The Foxglove Trio are great favourites at our club. They have an intriguing repertoire of well chosen and researched songs, beautifully sung and backed up by highly skillful and well crafted accompaniments - duelling 'cellos even! What more could one ask for?"
Malcolm Hobbs, Redbourn Folk Club

"The Foxglove Trio captivated the Readifolk audience - young, dynamic and very talented musicians. We shall certainly be booking this group again."
Una & Colin, Readifolk (Reading's Folk Song & Music Club)

"Despite being presented in the bar rather than the usual folk club room, The Foxglove Trio acquitted themselves well and made the ordinary punters  sit up and take notice.  Their  sheer professionalism and charm won over and captivated the audience."
Ivan North, Orpington Folk Club

“The Foxglove Trio’s concert set at Tenterden Folk Festival showed their capabilities to perform music and songs in both Welsh and English and was greatly appreciated by the audience.  We hope to get them back to Tenterden again soon.”
Alan Castle, Tenterden Folk Festival

“The Foxglove Trio – what a delight! Three young people who shared their joy for our kind of music with us with such ease and competence. Exceptional cello and melodeon playing and a superb voice delivering a selection of pieces at the traditional end of the folk spectrum. Can’t wait to get them back here again.“

John Hart & Jim Coombes – Loughton Folk Club

"Highly recommended! The Foxglove Trio delivered wonderful songs, first-class singing & harmonies & real musicianship, all beautifully blended, and lovely people, to boot."
Bill Pardon, Waltham Abbey Folk Club

"Ffion, Patrick & Catherine were one of the headliners on our Free Folk Blues & Steam Day on Redbourn Common this summer (2011). A large crowd sat in the sunshine to listen to a lovely mixture of tunes and songs from the British Isles, both well played and sung by this very talented trio. I didnt need any persuasion to invite them back to Redbourn Folk Club as guests in the autumn. By then they had also impressed Towersey Folk Festival by winning their Open Stage event which meant they opened for Spires & Boden. We had quite a crowd for their guest appearance with many people travelling a distance to hear more of them. We hope they will be making a cd fairly soon and get the wider recognition they deserve. Well worth looking out for them at a folk club or festival."
Jan Strapp, Redbourn Folk Club

"Ffion Mair sings with a power and clarity I have not heard in folk music since Maddy Prior first sent shivers through me. Her low notes are disturbingly good, the high notes thrilling, and all sung with sufficient decoration to establish her as one of the finest singers around. Together with Patrick Dean and Catherine Mason they form The Foxglove Trio who offer a unique and very talented performance. They are one the best groups I have heard and were highly rated by the audience at the Woburn Sands Folk Festival."
John Timpany, Woburn Sands Folk Festival

“The Foxglove Trio were universally admired by our audience; “book them again!” was the request from everyone. So we did. Great music, nice people.”
Alan and Sue Hewson, Baldock & Letchworth Folk Club

"The Foxglove Trio went down so well with our Sunday afternoon audience, a wonderful band, with a lovely take on traditional folk songs, as well as great original material."
Annie Windley, Softly Softly events, London

"thank you for a wonderful evening of songs and singing. It was excellent!"
Huw Pudner, The Valleys Folk Club, Pontardawe, South Wales
